Member States are States that have ratified or acceded to the Metre Convention and are therefore entitled to fully participate in BIPM activities.

Country stats

There are currently 69 Member States and 34 Associate States and Economies.

Azerbaijan becomes a BIPM Member State

The Republic of Azerbaijan acceded to the Metre Convention and became a Member State of the BIPM on 17 August 2026, strengthening its participation in the international measurement system.

Peru becomes a BIPM Member State

The Republic of Peru acceded to the Metre Convention and became a Member State of the BIPM on 11 August 2026, strengthening its participation in the international measurement system.

Armenia becomes an Associate State

The Republic of Armenia became an Associate State on 17 June 2026, strengthening its participation in the international measurement system.

Nigeria becomes an Associate State

The Federal Republic of Nigeria became an Associate State on 04 June 2026, strengthening its participation in the international measurement system.
