Member States

Member States are States that have ratified or acceded to the Metre Convention and are therefore entitled to fully participate in BIPM activities.

Country stats

There are currently 66 Member States and 36 Associate States and Economies.

Uzbekistan becomes a BIPM Member State

The Republic of Uzbekistan acceded to the Metre Convention and became a Member State of the BIPM, strengthening its participation in the international measurement system.

New Member State: Republic of Costa Rica

The Republic of Costa Rica, which had been an Associate since 2004, became a Member State on 5 September 2022.

Zimbabwe reinstated as an Associate of the CGPM

The Republic of Zimbabwe was reinstated as an Associate of the CGPM on 8 February 2022.

New Member State: Republic of Estonia

The Republic of Estonia, which had been an Associate since 2005, became a Member State on 19 January 2021.
