Overview
The CIPM MRA requires National Metrology Institutes and Designated institutes (NMIs/DIs) to establish and maintain a quality management system (QMS) that covers the range and uncertainty of all declared CMCs and complies with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 for calibration and measurement activities and ISO 17034 for the production of certified reference materials associated with CMCs.
The CIPM MRA provides RMOs with the flexibility to establish their own QMS review processes and this session allowed RMO representatives to share their individual approaches to the subject.
The highlights of the session were:
- CIPM MRA: importance and benefits
- CIPM MRA requirements for QMS
- RMO practices (separate presentations from AFRIMETS, APMP, COOMET, EURAMET, GULFMET, SIM)
The topics discussed during the session demonstrated how robust and transparent QMS systems underpin confidence in the CIPM MRA as one of the world’s most important quality infrastructures. These systems allow participating institutes to prove the international equivalence of their measurement standards and the calibration and measurement certificates they issue.
The BIPM wishes to thank the RMO TCQS Chairs for their contributions to this activity, which serves to demonstrate the importance of the CIPM MRA.
