As we begin 2026, the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) extends its warmest wishes to the international metrology community for the year ahead.

The coming months will be an important period for our community. In 2026, preparations will advance toward the 28th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), which will discuss and make decisions on scientific, institutional and financial matters related to the BIPM and its work. At the same time, the BIPM enters a new chapter with Dr Annette Koo taking up her role as Director.

Throughout the year, the BIPM will continue to support coordination across the metrology system, deliver technical work, capacity-building activities, and provide a forum for conversation and collaboration.
