The BIPM seeks an intern to support the Meetings and Executive Office team:

  • Service: Executive and Meetings Office
  • Deadline for applications: 22 May 2026 (23h59 Paris time)
  • Starting date: 1 July 2026
  • Contract: Internship, 4 months - Full-time basis, in Sèvres (Paris suburb)
  • Allowance: 800 EUR/month

 

The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) is an intergovernmental organization whose mandate is to provide the basis for a coherent system of measurements throughout the world, traceable to the International System of Units (SI). The BIPM is based in Sèvres, in the outskirts of Paris (France), and has an international staff of about 65.

The Executive and Meetings Service is part of the BIPM’s support services. The Service works closely with the Director of the BIPM. Among its responsibilities are the planning, organization, and smooth running of all international meetings both at the BIPM and externally. These meetings are a cornerstone of international coordination. The Service is also responsible for organizing the annual opening for the European Heritage Days (Journées européennes du Patrimoine).

Principal Mission

We offer an exciting opportunity for aspiring professionals to gain hands-on experience within an international scientific organization. The intern will contribute to a range of projects, including in particular:

  • Assist with the preparation of a diplomatic conference: provide support to the Executive and Meetings Office team to ensure the preparation and the smooth running of the 28th meeting of the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM), which will be held in Versailles from 13 to 15 October 2026, and related events: participation in setup day, welcoming participants, and assisting at the registration desk.
  • Assist with the preparation of the European Heritage Days (Journées européennes du Patrimoine): support for the production of materials (posters, announcements, organization), including layout, formatting and content organization.
  • Editorial Support: provide assistance in content editing, proofreading and creation of publication materials (leaflet, posters, brochures, web content).

Ideal Profile

We welcome applications from students in the field of Political Science, Events management, or related areas.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in foreign languages (French and English, knowledge of other languages would be an asset).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Canva).
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
