- WMO participates in the CIPM MRA.
Links between the BIPM and the WMO
- WMO has designated the following laboratories for different measurements: EMPA, NOAA/ESRL and PMOD/WRC.
- WMO representatives now attend both CCQM (CCQM-GAWG) and CCPR meetings.
- The BIPM participates in a number of WMO Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) scientific advisory groups, notably for ozone, VOCs and NOxy gases.
Purpose
WMO is the specialized agency of the United Nations for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences.
The BIPM and WMO cooperate to raise awareness within WMO of the issues of metrological traceability and measurement uncertainty, ensure appropriate use of SI units within the WMO measurement networks and demonstration of degrees of equivalence between measurement standards maintained in the WMO networks and NMIs.
