Abstract

The first goal of this document is to furnish general recommendations for the design of a qNMR experiment and for the undertaking of a quantitative ¹⁹F NMR measurement using the internal standard approach to provide a measurement result traceable to the International System of Units (SI). The second is to establish the desirable properties for individual compounds to serve as versatile SI-traceable internal standards for purity assignment by ¹⁹F qNMR. The third goal, and the focus of this specific document, is to provide guidance regarding the scope, use and limitations of 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid (BTFMBA) as an ISRM for ¹⁹F qNMR analysis.
