Celebrating 100 Years of the CCEM
|
In 2027, the Consultative Committee for Electricity and Magnetism (CCEM) celebrates its To mark this milestone, the BIPM and the international metrology community are hosting a series of anniversary activities, including a special workshop in Sèvres, France, bringing together experts to reflect on the CCEM's achievements and explore future challenges and opportunities in electrical and magnetic metrology. |
BIPM Special Workshop, at a glance
- When: 10 March 2027
- Where: BIPM, Sèvres (Paris suburb), France
- Who can attend: Members and stakeholders of the electromagnetic metrology community
- Registration: Registration will open in the coming months
Details will be published on this webpage and announced through the BIPM e Newsletter and the BIPM LinkedIn account.
Young Metrologists Poster Competition
As part of the centenary celebrations, the Committee will invite early-career metrologists to submit posters showcasing innovative work and emerging challenges in electrical and magnetic metrology.
The posters will be published on the BIPM website, with the best submissions presented at the anniversary workshop. The call for submissions will open in early November 2026. Full details, including submission guidelines, eligibility and deadlines, will be published on this webpage. Please check back then for further information.
A century of the CCEM
One hundred years ago, in 1927, the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM) established the Consultative Committee for Electricity. In 1997, the Committee was renamed the Consultative Committee for Electricity and Magnetism (CCEM), reflecting its broader remit in electrical and magnetic metrology.
Today, the CCEM provides an international forum for experts from National Metrology Institutes to coordinate global comparability of electromagnetic measurements, advise the CIPM on developments in electrical metrology, and identify future measurement challenges. Its work helps ensure that electrical and magnetic measurements are comparable around the world, supporting science, innovation, industry and international trade.
Further information about the workshop programme, registration and additional anniversary events will also be published on this webpage in the coming months.
We look forward to celebrating this remarkable milestone with you.
