Thank You for Joining Our BIPM150 End-of-Year Special
As we close this milestone anniversary year, we were delighted to welcome colleagues, National Metrology Institutes (NMIs), and partners from around the world to our end-of-year webinar "Highlights from BIPM150". Thank you to everyone who joined us — and to those who contributed clips, photographs, and reflections from national celebrations throughout 2025.
This final gathering of the BIPM150 year offered a brief look back at the collaborations, scientific achievements, and community spirit that defined the 150th anniversary of the Metre Convention.

The Programme
The programme began with opening reflections from BIPM Director, Dr Martin Milton OBE, who highlighted how international cooperation and shared scientific infrastructure remain central to the robustness of the SI and the success of the BIPM150 year. Looking ahead, he reflected on the contributions of a new generation of scientists whose passion for metrology and embrace of cutting-edge science offer strong momentum for the future.
Four NMIs then shared short highlights on some of the exhibitions, outreach campaigns and events that they organised in celebration of the 150th anniversary. These updates reflected the diversity of approaches taken to celebrate the Metre Convention, while reinforcing a common message: metrology remains essential to innovation and global trust in measurement.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Director Designate, Dr Annette Koo, who thanked colleagues and partners for their support throughout the years — and throughout this anniversary year in particular. Drawing on what she witnessed during the May celebrations and in her first weeks at the BIPM, she described an organisation that is "in very good heart": one that understands its origins, applies scientific metrology to real-world challenges, and moves forward with a shared sense of purpose. She closed with a message of confidence in the community’s ability to navigate what lies ahead: "I have every confidence, that as we navigate a future that only guarantees change, that we are going to continue to meet this change together."
As the webinar offered a snapshot of this milestone year, we invite you to explore the wider collection of BIPM150 resources — including videos, interviews, articles and posters — that capture the breadth of anniversary activities and contributions from around the world.
