Description Activity of radionuclide Ho-166m
Time of measurements 2024
Status Planned
Measurand Activity of Ho-166m per unit mass
Transfer device Ampoules of Holmium chloride
Comparison type Key Comparison
Consultative Committee CCRI (Consultative Committee for Ionizing Radiation)
Conducted by CCRI (Consultative Committee for Ionizing Radiation)
Comments Ho-166m is long-lived isotope useful for various instrument calibration. The solution provided by IRA is free of gamma emitting impurities, and can be used for both activity determination and half-life measurement. Participants will be provided with ampoules of Holmium chloride of about 1 MBq.

BIPM.RI(II)-K1.Ho-166m, APMP.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m and EURAMET.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m

MEASURAND      Equivalent activity of 166mHo

  • Key comparison BIPM.RI(II)-K1.Ho-166m

Key comparison reference value xR is the SIR reference value for this radionuclide where xR = 9.959 MBq, with a standard uncertainty uR = 0.022 MBq (see section 4.1 of the Final Report). xi is the equivalent activity for laboratory i.

The degree of equivalence of each laboratory with respect to the reference value is given by a pair of terms:
Di = (xi - xR) and Ui, its expanded uncertainty (k = 2), both expressed in MBq. With n the number of laboratories, Ui = 2[ (1 - 2w)ui2uR]1/2 when each laboratory has contributed to the calculation of xR.

  • Linking APMP.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m and EURAMET.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m to BIPM.RI(II)-K1.Ho-166m

The value xi is the equivalent activity for laboratory i participant in APMP.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m or EURAMET.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m, having been normalized to the value of the NMIJ for APMP, or the PTB for EURAMET, as the linking laboratory.

The degree of equivalence of laboratory i participant in the APMP or EURAMET key comparison with respect to the key comparison reference value is given by a pair of terms: Di = (xi - xR) and Ui, its expanded uncertainty (k = 2), both expressed in MBq. The approximation Ui = 2(ui2 + uR2)1/2 is used as none of these laboratories contributed to the computation of the key comparison reference value xR.

These statements make it possible to extend the BIPM.RI(II)-K1.Ho-166m table of equivalence to participants in APMP.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m and EURAMET.RI(II)-K2.Ho-166m.
