Form of credentials

Delegates must possess credentials issued by their head of State, head of government, Foreign Ministry or other authority of their State empowered to commit the State on the questions under the purview of the Conference. Such credentials must state the composition of the delegation and identify the principal delegate and one or more alternates.

Time limit

Delegations are kindly requested to present their credentials to the Director of the BIPM:

To the extent possible, credentials should be submitted for the entire duration of the CGPM. In accordance with usual practice, modifications to credentials will remain possible at any time during the 28th meeting of the CGPM.

Purpose of credentials 

The submission of credentials serves to:

  • establish provisional, revised and final list of delegations
  • permits each accredited delegate to be identified and to:
    • register in person
    • access the restricted online conference platform
  • generates the voting list for plenary and establishes the majority voting threshold
  • provides the basis for drawing up the list of speakers in plenary
  • provides the basis for the published information of participants in the CGPM proceedings
  • register to the CGPM social events

Registration upon arrival (badges)

Delegates will be able to register and collect their badges from the registration desk, provided that their credentials have been received. Participants will be requested to present official personal identification documentation (passport, identity card).

In order to gain access to the venue in which the CGPM will be held, all participants must be in possession of a personalized CGPM registration badge obtained from the registration desk located in the entrance hall.

These badges must be worn visibly at all times.

To avoid lengthy waiting times expected at the registration desks on the morning of Tuesday 13 October 2026, the early collection of badges prior to the opening of the Conference is strongly recommended.

The registration desk will open each day at 8 h 30.
