Aim of the meeting
The JCTLM Members’ and Stakeholders’ Meeting with Workshop on “Result harmonization in medical laboratories: accomplishments and challenges” will be held over two days at the BIPM with on site and online participation possible. The meeting will update participants on activities of the committee over the last two years and invite stakeholders to provide comment on their needs and expectations in relation to metrological traceability in laboratory medicine.
The workshop will focus on expectations and benefits of harmonized results amongst medical laboratories and the challenges in achieving this. It will look at the importance and new initiatives on Reference Materials, Procedures and Services and the challenges in providing these in compliance with relevant ISO standards and sustaining these reference systems, as well where these systems are being successfully implemented. The process of practical implementation of traceability by IVD manufacturers will be discussed, as well as how this is impacted by different regional regulatory requirements in an international market, as well as opportunities offered by new processes for harmonizing measurements results.
Participation
The workshop is open to all individuals and groups with an interest in traceability and method standardization or harmonization. These included laboratory medicine specialists, EQA providers, IVD manufacturers, regulators and national metrology institutes.
Anticipated outcomes
The meeting will provide opinions and recommendations on approaches to ensure the sustainability and expansion of reference measurement systems and harmonization protocols in laboratory medicine as well as approaches that will maximize the successful the adoption of these systems by IVD industry worldwide.
