Links between the BIPM and the URSI

  • Dr Patrizia Tavella is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of URSI Commission A.

Purpose

URSI, a non-governmental and non-profit organisation under the International Council for Science, is responsible for stimulating and co-ordinating, on an international basis, studies, research, applications, scientific exchange, and communication in the fields of radio science.

The BIPM and URSI cooperate to exchange knowledge in the use of measurement standards, development measurement techniques and methods, and agreeing on strategies for achieving common goals. URSI Commission A on Electromagnetic Metrology promotes research and development in the field of measurement standards and physical constants, calibration and measurement methodologies, improved quantification of accuracy, metrological traceability and measurement uncertainty.
