Dr Susanne Picard is the BIPM KCDB Coordinator and the Executive Secretary of the Consultative Committee for Thermometry (CCT). She is presently in charge of the development of a revised version of the BIPM Key Comparison Database.
Susanne received her B.Sc. degree at the University of Stockholm (Sweden) in 1981, including studies at the University of Sussex (UK). This was followed by a Ph.D. in Molecular Spectroscopy at the University of Stockholm in 1988, for which a part of the work was carried out at the University Paris XI (Orsay, France). Susanne joined the Length Section at the BIPM in 1987 where she was involved in work on laser frequency standards and participated in the development and operation of an optical frequency comb. In 2003 she joined the Ionizing Radiation Department, where she developed a primary standard in form of a graphite calorimeter to determine absorbed dose to water in high-energy photon beams. Since 2015 she is sharing her time with the International Liaison and Communication department.
