United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is the specialized agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability. Their mandate is to promote and accelerate sustainable industrial development in developing countries and economies in transition. This includes developing the technical infrastructure, including metrology.

Links between the BIPM and the UNIDO:

  • The BIPM has a close working relationship with UNIDO related to UNIDO support projects for AFRIMETS, for which Mr Andy Henson is a member of the Steering Committee.
  • UNIDO is one of the partners in the DCMAS Network.
  • Mr Andy Henson lectures at UNIDO workshops providing training for developing countries on trade capacity development.
