International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology (ICRM)

The International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology (ICRM) is an association of radionuclide metrology laboratories whose membership is composed of delegates of these laboratories together with other scientists (associate members) actively engaged in the study and applications of radioactivity. The ICRM explicitly aims to be an international forum for the dissemination of information on techniques, applications and data in the field of radionuclide metrology.

Most of the ICRM's activities are organized through its working groups and sub-committees. Every two years it organizes a week-long scientific conference on radionuclide metrology, which provides an ideal occasion to promote interest in precision radionuclide metrology.

Links between the BIPM and the ICRM:

  • Dr Guy Ratel is the BIPM representative on the ICRM Council and is responsible for the Presidential elections; he is currently chair of their Nominating Committee.
  • Members of the BIPM's radionuclide activity team attend the ICRM Conference to present their work and promote interest in precision radionuclide metrology.
  • The ICRM participates in the Section II of the CCRI.
