New HTML annotated version of the VIM3 now available on the BIPM website

The International vocabulary of metrology – Basic and general concepts and associated terms (VIM) (JCGM 200:2012, 3rd edition) (or VIM3) has recently been enhanced with explanatory text and simplified language (contained in annotations) in order to improve readability and facilitate understanding.

Quick, efficient access to all definitions, notes, examples and annotations is provided through a hyperlinked, HTML document that is directly accessible from the BIPM web site. Both an alphabetical index (as in the VIM3) and an analytical index are included.

The official title of this abridged version of the VIM3 is "VIM Definitions with Informative Annotations", though it is usually called "The Annotated VIM3". The annotations in this interactively browsable document are exclusively developed by Working Group 2 of the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM-WG2) according to procedures agreed by the JCGM. The annotations are thus informative and not normative.

Additional annotations will be added as they are developed.
