Agreement with the CEA List gives the BIPM access to the DOSEO platform for high-energy photon beams.

The BIPM has signed an agreement with the Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA List Institute), to operate the ongoing BIPM.RI(I)-K6 comparison for high-energy photon beams at the DOSEO platform for research and development in radiotherapy and imaging technologies.

The DOSEO platform, strongly supported by the Laboratoire national de métrologie et d'essais (LNE), the national metrology institute of France, is located at the Paris-Saclay CEA site in France, and the BIPM has been granted access to use the accelerator facilities for up to 8 weeks per year. This agreement enables the BIPM to use the same stationary reference accelerator beam to define and determine their own conditions for reference dosimetry for any NMI participating in the high-energy photon dosimetry comparisons. The agreement has the added advantage that it will allow national secondary standards to obtain direct Dw (absorbed dose to water) traceability to the BIPM in this field.

The BIPM dosimetry group - Dr Susanne Picard, Dr David Burns, Dr Cecilia Kessler and Mr Philippe Roger - has already completed the first working period to install and verify the BIPM equipment at this facility. This work has been continued in July 2017 and the first comparison is scheduled for November 2017 with KRISS (Republic of Korea).
