The provision of time scales at the BIPM involves the collection of a large amount of information on the different elements that contribute to the calculation of TAI, UTC, rapid UTC and TT(BIPM) and to their uncertainties.
In September 2016 the BIPM Time Department officially launched the web-based Time Department Database. It is updated monthly with an inventory of laboratories that contribute to UTC and UTCr, their equipment and calibrations. This interactive tool which also facilitates the preparation of data for contribution to the time scales, provides guidelines and tips for participation, and the options for making customized plots or obtaining the code for new clocks.
In addition to this new resource, all issues of BIPM Circular T, starting in March 1988, and the BIPM Annual Report on Time Activities are now available on the ftp server. Extracts from the Annual Report of the Bureau International de l'Heure (BIH) containing atomic time scale information have been scanned and are also accessible through the ftp server.
