    John Dunworth (1917-2017) [2017]  
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dr John Dunworth, Vice-President of the CIPM from 1968-1975 and CIPM President from 1975-1985.
    New President of the CCPR takes office [2017]  
Dr Maria Luisa Rastello, INRIM (Italy) and CIPM Member, has officially taken over the Presidency of the CCPR from Dr Takashi Usuda, NMIJ AIST (Japan).

    JCTLM meeting focuses on 'Accurate Results for Patient Care' [2015]  
The importance of reference materials and reference methods as anchors for quality assays in laboratory medicine was highlighted at the JCTLM meeting in November 2015.
    Dr Joële Viallon has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the CCPR [2015]  
Joële will take over the role from Dr Michael Stock from 1 January 2016.
    Dr Gianna Panfilo (BIPM) is appointed as Executive Secretary of the CCAUV [2015]  
Gianna takes over the role from Dr Susanne Picard, who had been CCAUV Executive Secretary since 2011.

    News from the 29th CCEM [2015]  
The CCEM held its 29th meeting on 12 and 13 March 2015 at the BIPM. The meeting was chaired by its new President, Dr Gert Rietveld from VSL, who made a presentation to the retiring President, Dr Barry Inglis, to thank him for his work over 12 years as President of the CCEM.
    New President of the CCL: Prof. Massimo Inguscio [2015]  
The CIPM has appointed Prof. Massimo Inguscio as the new President of the CCL for a four-year term.
    New President of the CCEM: Dr Gert Rietveld [2015]  
The CIPM has appointed Dr Gert Rietveld as the new President of the CCEM for a four-year term.
    Dr Robert Kaarls elected an honorary member of the CIPM [2015]  
The CIPM has elected Dr Kaarls an honorary member in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the work of the committee.
    Election of the CIPM bureau [2015]  
At the first session of its 104th meeting, the CIPM has re-confirmed Dr Barry D. Inglis as CIPM President, and has elected Dr James W. McLaren as Secretary. It has elected Dr Willie E. May and Prof. Joachim Ullrich as Vice Presidents.
    New members of the CIPM [2015]  
The 18 newly elected members of the CIPM started their term at Session I of the 104th meeting on 9-10 March 2015. Of the 18 members, seven took their seats at the CIPM for the first time.
    Deadline for comments on the Committee Drafts of the revised GUM: 3 April 2015 [2015]  
The Committee Drafts of the revised GUM, the JCGM 100:201X, Evaluation of measurement data – Guide to uncertainty in measurement and of its companion the JCGM 110:201X Evaluation of measurement data – Examples of uncertainty evaluation, are being circulated for comments through the eight JCGM member organizations (BIPM, IEC, IFCC, ILAC, ISO, IUPAC, IUPAP and OIML), and through the National Metrology Institutes (NMIs). Each organization and NMI is kindly requested to collate the comments it receives to avoid duplication and send them to the JCGM Chairman by 3 April 2015. The comments will be discussed during the BIPM Workshop on Measurement Uncertainty (15-16 June 2015).
    CIPM meeting 2014 [2014]  
The decisions from Session II of the 103rd meeting are now available.
The proceedins of Session I are now available in French.
    New President of the CCAUV: Dr Takashi Usuda [2014]  
The CIPM has appointed Dr Usuda from NMIJ to be the next President of the CCAUV. He succeeds Dr Valdés, who has been President of the CCAUV since 2000 and has announced his retirement from the CCAUV.
    New President of the CCRI: Dr Wynand Louw [2014]  
The CIPM has appointed Dr Louw from NMISA to be the next President of the CCRI. He succeeds Dr Carneiro, who has been President of the CCRI since 2008 and has announced his retirement from the CCRI.
    Election of the CIPM [2014]  
The CGPM conducted an election for all 18 seats on the CIPM, and the results were announced on Thursday, 20 November 2014. The newly elected members will start their term at the first session of the CIPM scheduled for March 2015; they are:

  •     CIPM meeting 2013 [2014]  
    The official report of the CIPM's 102nd meeting (2013) has now been published. The decisions from the meeting held in March 2014 are also available for download.
        New member of the CIPM: Dr Dae-Im Kang [2013]  
    Dr Dae-Im Kang, President of KRISS (Republic of Korea) has been elected to the CIPM.
        Changes to Consultative Committee membership [2013]  
    At its meeting in October 2013, the CIPM approved the following changes in Consultative Committee membership:
        Retirement of Prof. Ian Mills and appointment of Prof. Joachim Ullrich as next President of the CCU [2013]  
    At the meeting of the Consultative Committee for Units (CCU) in June 2013, Professor Ian Mills FRS, President of the CCU, announced his intention to resign with effect from the end of 2013. The delegates of the CCU gave him a standing ovation and warm thanks were expressed by Dr Barry Inglis, President of the CIPM, and Dr Terry Quinn, Emeritus Director of the BIPM, for the 17 years of service he has given to the CCU.
    At their meeting in October 2013, the members of the CIPM also paid tribute to the extent and quality of Prof. Mills' service. They appointed Professor Joachim Ullrich, President of the PTB and a member of the CIPM, to serve as the next President of the CCU, with effect from 1 January 2014.
        New members of the CIPM (2013) [2013]  
    Following the retirements of Professor Göbel, Dr Hengstberger and Dr Schwitz from the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM), three new members have been elected: Professor Humberto Brandi (Director for Scientific and Industrial Metrology, INMETRO, Brazil), Dr Wynand Louw (Director, Technical Infrastructure Development, NMISA, South Africa) and Professor Joachim Ullrich (President, PTB, Germany).
        New members of the CIPM (2012) [2012]  
    Following the retirements of Dr Bennett, Professor Issaev and Dr Tanaka from the International Committee of Weights and Measures (CIPM), three new members have been elected: Dr Brian Bowsher (Managing Director, NPL, United Kingdom), Dr Vladimir Krutikov (Rosstandart, Russian Federation) and Dr Takashi Usuda (Director of the International Metrology Cooperation Office, NMIJ/AIST, Japan).
