The JCTLM Database Working Group is charged with establishing a process for identifying, reviewing and publishing lists of:

  • available higher order certified reference materials,
  • higher order reference measurement procedures, and
  • reference measurement services of laboratories.

This information is essential for industries establishing traceability in compliance with the European Commission Directive for in vitro Diagnostics (1998).

Since 2003 the IFCC provides a proficiency testing system for reference laboratories in support of the requirement for being or remaining listed in the JCTLM Database. This IFCC RELA EQAS meets the requirements described in sections 6.4.13 and 7 of the procedure document WG2-P-02, addressing the requirements for suitable proficiency testing providers at the international level.
