Varenna Metrology School

Overview

The BIPM and the Italian Physical Society collaborate to organize a Metrology Summer School. The 2019 school, "New frontiers for metrology: from biology and chemistry to quantum and data science", was held in Varenna (Italy), during the summer of 2019.

Funding from METAS provided sponsorship for selected participants to attend the Metrology School and then undertake a short (two- to six-week) placement at METAS, to pursue a specific metrology topic of interest. The sponsorship is aimed at young metrologists from NMIs/DIs of Member States or Associates with emerging metrology systems, who demonstrate strong scientific ability and the potential to become one of the high flyers of tomorrow.
