Computation of "Rapid UTC" (UTCr)

Each week the BIPM Time Department publishes an official "Rapid UTC" solution, UTCr.

UTCr is an atomic time scale that allows the participating laboratories to monitor the steering of their clocks at shorter intervals than the monthly Circular T. Its offset to the ultimate reference UTC remains less than 2 ns.

Daily values of [UTCrUTC(k)] are computed from data provided on a voluntary basis by a subset of the laboratories contributing to UTC.

Official publication of UTCr began on 1 July 2013, following approval by the Consultative Committee for Time and Frequency (CCTF) after a succesful pilot experiment started in January 2012. Since then, solutions have been published every Wednesday at not later than 18 h UTC.

The results computed since 1 July 2013 are available at:

The results published during the pilot experiment remain accessible at:

Formal traceability to UTC continues to be assured through the BIPM's monthly publication of Circular T.
