Subject: Response to Call for participation in an IGS/BIPM Pilot Project
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Status: RO

Dear Dr. Jim Ray and Dr. Claudine Thomas:

Thank you for your e-mail message on the IGS/BIPM Pilot Project of 6
Jan. 1998.
I am sending you the following response to call for participation in the
IGS/BIPM Pilot Project.
The IGS/BIPM Pilot Project you are establishing would be of interest and
we would like to participate in the project. However, we have some
restriction as mentioned in the following response form.
I would appreciate it if you could let us know what kind of resources
are needed for participating in each area of the project.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards.

Response to Call for Participation in an IGS/BIPM Pilot Project to Study
Accurate Time and Frequency Comparisons using GPS Phase and Code
Measurements.

Agency or group : Korea Research Institute of Standards
and Science (KRISS), Korea

Contact person : Yang Sup Song

E-mail address : yss@krissol.kriss.re.kr

Areas of participation : Not decided

  1) Deployment of GPS receivers :
  2) GPS data analysis :
  3) Analysis of instrumental delays :
  4) Time transfer comparisons :
  5) Other :

Limitations on participation : (please list any restriction)

For the maintenance of national time and frequency standard, KRISS is,
at present, equipped with 3 cesium atomic clocks(HP model 5071A), 1
hydrogen maser(Sigma Tau model 2002) and 2 GPS timing receivers(AOA
model TTR-5 and TTR-6) for the international time comparisons by GPS
common views. No geodetic GPS receiver is maintained at our laboratory
now.

Comments or suggestions :

The IGS/BIPM Pilot Project you are establishing would be of interest
and we would like to participate in the project. However, we don't have
the geodetic GPS receiver capable of observing the carrier phase and
dual-frequency codes, and we don't have much experience on that, either.
So, we couldn't decide the areas in the project which we would
participate in. We, at first, are going to participate in the project
as an observer and we hope to get the information continuously from the
working group. I think we will be able to judge how we can contribute
to the project as the project proceeds.
I would appreciate it if you could let us know what kind of resources
are needed for participating in each area of the project.
