The BIPM provides the scientific secretariat for meetings of the CCU and the many other Consultative Committees and Working Groups involved in discussing the possible changes to the SI. A list of some of these groups is given here. The BIPM also provides the secretariat for meetings of the CIPM and CGPM, so is closely involved at all stages of the discussion process.

The BIPM publishes the SI brochure, the 9th edition of which will be published when the "New SI" is adopted, and it maintains on its website the mises en pratique for the definitions of the units.
