The BIPM is establishing an international programme to ensure the equivalence of national ozone standards and the international comparability of ground-level ozone measurements.

International comparison programme for national ozone standards

The BIPM is the pilot laboratory for the CCQM pilot study for ozone at ambient levels (CCQM-P28). The study is a prelude to an ongoing key comparison for national ozone reference standards.

Ozone reference standards

The BIPM currently maintains three NIST Standard Reference Photometers (SRP 27, SRP 28 and SRP 31) as ozone reference standards to underpin its international comparison programme. The BIPM and the NIST are cooperating to transfer the international responsibility for the comparison of national ozone standards to the BIPM.

SRP 32 and SRP 33 are maintained at the BIPM as part of its ozone reference standard development programme. SRP 33 was constructed at the BIPM as part of the NIST/BIPM collaboration programme.
