TÜBİTAK UME laboratory-based training initiative for young metrologists

The BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME have launched a joint training initiative under the banner of the BIPM's CB&KT programme entitled The 2018 & 2019 "BIPM-TÜBİTAK UME project placements". This initiative is supported by the National Metrology Institute of Turkey - TÜBİTAK UME and is focused on helping young and relatively inexperienced scientific and technical personnel achieve their project goals. At the same time it will deliver the wider benefit of allowing participants to develop the technical skills required by metrological researchers from emerging NMIs/DIs.

It is expected that this opportunity will be of particular interest to young metrologists from NMIs/DIs in countries and economies with emerging metrology systems that already participate in the CIPM MRA (or which have a reasonable prospect of participating in the near future).

Placements can range from 1 to 3 months and will be hosted at TÜBİTAK UME's laboratories. Successful candidates will also benefit from lectures to be given by experts from the BIPM and TÜBİTAK UME. The training is scheduled to take place in two cycles during 2018 and 2019, with the first cycle starting in April 2018. Registration is now open.

Candidates must complete the online registration and submit their scientific interests and intentions as a project proposal, which will be considered, taking into account the laboratory capabilities of TÜBİTAK UME. The training will be specifically tailored to the needs of each young metrologist to support his/her particular research area.

Full information and guidance for applicants is given on the BIPM website at 2018 & 2019 "BIPM - TÜBİTAK UME project placements"
