Director
Prof. A. J. Wallard is a member of the Scientific Council of the National Institute of Metrological Research (INRIM), Turin; a member of IUPAC's Interdivisional Committee on Terminology, Nomenclature and Symbols (ICTNS); a member of IUPAP-C2 Commission on Symbols, Units, Nomenclature, Atomic Masses and Fundamental Constants (SUNAMCO); and a member of the advisory committee of the Institute for National Measurement Standards (INMS) of the National Research Council of Canada. He is a Visiting Professor in the Institute of Mathematics and Physical Sciences of the University of Wales at Aberystwyth. Until October 2005 when his term ended he was Vice President for Membership and Qualifications of the Institute of Physics (IOP, UK), a member of IOP Council, Chair of their Membership and Qualifications Board, and a member of its Professional Standards Committee. He is a member of the Board of NCSL International (NCSLI), a member of the Scientific Academy of Turin; and Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Regional Metrology Organizations and the BIPM (JCRB) and the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM).
Units and fundamental constants
Dr C. Thomas is a member of the Cabinet scientifique des Secrétaires perpétuels de l'Académie des Sciences de Paris. In this context, she acts as the Scientific Secretary of the Academy's Working Group on Base Units and Fundamental Constants. Dr Thomas is a member of the LNE Working Group on Mathématiques et statistiques pour la métrologie. She is also Executive Secretary of the Consultative Committee for Units (CCU).
ILAC and ISO
Since January 2004 Dr Rainer Köhler is the BIPM liaison person with ISO and ILAC. He maintains regular links with both organizations at a working level. The aim is to identify work in ISO committees that has implications for metrology, and joint actions with ILAC in support of the BIPM/ILAC MoU.
