Strategic planning: BIPM and Consultative Committees

The BIPM has developed a strategic plan to implement its Mission, Role and Objectives. This includes current strategic priorities as well as detailed strategic plans for the medium term (2016–2019). It also declares aspirations for the BIPM in the long term:

BIPM Strategic Plan (2014)

This document is complementary to the strategic plans developed for each of the Consultative Committees of the CIPM. It has been reviewed by the CIPM and will be open for review and refinement at subsequent meetings of the CIPM.

In 2012 the CIPM asked the Consultative Committees (except, at that time, the CCU) to undertake strategic reviews of their areas of activity and produce strategic planning documents. These documents were subject to review and comment by Member State Representatives and NMI Directors, and have been revised accordingly by the CCs. As the strategy documents are fairly long, the BIPM developed one-page summaries of them to facilitate initial discussion. The CCU has subsequently also developed a strategy document, which has been through a similar review process.
