The CCAUV was set up in 1998.
 In addition to its formal work in the organization of key comparisons in acoustics (airborne and underwater), in ultrasound and in vibration measurement, the CCAUV acts as the focus for this diverse community, seeking to develop common aims and increased collaboration between national metrology institutes and appropriate designated organizations in Member States of the Metre Convention.
