Dr Rainer Köhler is the BIPM liaison person to ISO committees which have an impact on the work of the BIPM and on metrology more generally.

In particular, the BIPM has Liaison A status with the following ISO Committees:

TC 12 (Quantities, units, symbols, conversion factors)
TC 176 (Quality management and quality assurance)
CASCO (Committee on conformity assessment), WG 5, 12, 23 and 25
REMCO (Committee on reference materials).

The International Organization for Standardization participates in the Consultative Committee for Units (CCU), the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM), and the Joint Committee on Coordination of Assistance to Developing Countries in Metrology, Accreditation and Standardization (JCDCMAS).
