In addition to scientific articles by members of staff which appear in the open literature, the BIPM publishes the official reports of the CGPM, CIPM and Consultative Committees, and the SI brochure entitled The International System of Units. In addition, the BIPM edits and in partnership with the Institute of Physics Publishing publishes the technical journal Metrologia. Also published are a wide range of Reports and Monographs, mostly written by members of the BIPM staff. Individual copies of BIPM publications may be obtained on request, or are available on the BIPM's website.
In addition to the traditional route of publishing printed materials, the BIPM makes increasing use of its website (www.bipm.org) to disseminate its work, and to communicate with colleagues and the wider society. The Publications and IT department provides assistance in the purchase, installation and administration of over 100 PCs and laptop computers throughout the laboratories and offices of the BIPM. Most computers are connected through an internal network. The department also provides software support services to internal users.
