Activities

Dr Susanne Picard is the BIPM KCDB Coordinator. She is the Executive Secretary of the Consultative Committee for Thermometry (CCT). She is also in charge of carrying out calorimetry comparisons in accelerator photon beams on-site at NMIs.

Susanne received her BSc degree at the University of Stockholm (Sweden) in 1981, including studies at the University of Sussex (UK). This was followed by a PhD in Molecular Spectroscopy at the University of Stockholm in 1988, for which a part of the work was carried out at the University Paris XI (Orsay, France). Susanne joined the Length Section at the BIPM in 1987 where she was involved in work on laser frequency standards and participated in the development and operation of an optical frequency comb. In 2003 she joined the Ionizing Radiation Department, where she developed a primary standard in form of a graphite calorimeter to determine absorbed dose to water in high energy photon beams.
